*Himal– this word maybe “Unal” or maybe “Himal” or maybe "Hinal" or maybe even something else. It is difficult to ascertain right now.



The following terms / concepts have special import in the Sufi lexicon (Tasawwuf). Please keep in mind that these are very basic, and in some sense simplistic, definitions.

1. Khawaja – A special exalted Sufi master who has attained a very high level in the Sufi heirarchy. Usually a term associated with the founder of a Sufi order and his nominated successors. Eg- Khawaja Mo’een Ud Deen Chisti Ghareeb Nawaz, Khawaja Nizam Ud Deen Auliya Mehboob Illahi, Khawaja Salim Chisti.

2. Sama – Although here “Sama” is the imperative form of the Hindi / Urdu verb “Sama Jana” which means to occupy or reside in something, there is another association which I can establish with the inclusion of this word in the lyrics. Sama is also the word for the mystic trance sessions which Sufis all through the world partake in as a means of coming closer to God. It comes from the Arabic word Sama’ which means sound and these Sama sessions always have music and songs such as Manqabats and Qawalis in them. The lyricist for Khawaja Mere Khawaja may or may not have worked on this line of thought but I do construe a secondary meaning to “Sama” in the song.

3. Ali – Cousin and Son in Law of Prophet Muhammad. Almost all the Sufi Khawajas trace their roots back to Ali and through him to Prophet Muhammad. Khawaja Hazrat Mo’een Ud Deen Chisti has a double relationship with Ali, through two of Ali’s sons: Hasan and Husain.

4. Noor – This is a very important Sufi term. It goes much beyond the concept of physical ‘light’. This is more akin to spiritual light passed on from God to Muhammad to Ali and thence to the various Khawajas who trace their lineage back to Ali.

5. Auliya – Auliya is short for Wali Allah ie Friend of God, a higher Sufi rank.

6. Mustafa – This is another name for Prophet Muhammad and can often be found in Sufi and Islamic devotional poetry.

7. Pir - An exalted Sufi, dervish, mystic, saint, babaji generally.

I could be wrong about many things and I would like to know if I am.

Just a little something I would like to add about this song. I think it's a type of Manqabat i Khawaja. Traditionally Sufi Sama' and Qawwali programs have had a sort of warrant of precedence which starts with a Hamad (praise to God), then Na't (praise for the Prophet Muhammad), then Manqabat (praise for Ali) and then Manqabat i Khwaja (praise for the founder of the concerned sufi order). In this case the founder of the Chistiya order in Hindustan being Hazrat Khawaja Mo'een Ud Deen Chisti, the Manqabat is for him and one can hear him being addressed as "Ghareeb Nawaz" (a very very popular epitaph of Hazrat Khawaja Mo'een Ud Deen Chisti). Another very popular epitaph is "Mehbob i Illahi" for Hazart Nizam Ud Deen Auliya one of the greatest Pirs of the Chistiya order.

Childhood-Aaj Kal...

Its all about dreams and fantasies then,
Dreams that had perfection and imagination,
Fantasies that had wildest and ridiculous endings,
But it still was great fun, a world of your own.


Be it hoping to be Spider-man or being a prince,
Or being invited to the School of Magic as a child prodigy,
Could be starting your own Secret Club to solve crime,
Or discovering you have some kind of Super power.

It might sound Crazy for a person with no imagination,
But if you have dreamed crazy and hoped it to happen,
To me that is the sign that you had the normal Childhood,
For others, there is still time for you to ‘do a Shrikanth’.
Ha ha..

 You had all the time in your life to have fun and play,
With your friends all d Games that you managed to understand,
Playing on the streets, on the ground and even at home,
Celebrating life, like you have lived the whole of your life.


But Children nowadays are smitten with technology and life,
Either study all the time or be a PS or Computer Gamer,
Life is no more a Circle for their Generation, As you know,
3-D Movies and Games have made life a Sphere for them.


Kids,when asked for their ambition nowadays,answers with the professions,
Which I barely knew to pronounce when I was a child, but some even now.
Is it De-evolution of Mankind or Crazy growth of Technology and Science?
Almost all the kids we see nowadays are bare reflection of Robocop.

But its still not over, you can now be a responsible Kid,
Still live among your new Dreams and Fantasies,
So even if you are going real in the perfect way,
Do that with a pinch of imagination and craziness..

Let me give you a glimpse of another knowledge,which sounds almost like the above one::

"To every action there is an equal and opposite reaction."

The second one is Newton's Third law of motion!!!Oh My GOD!!

You are thinking that I am Over-Reacting na...Read on to know the action that has caused it!!!

I simply nodded my head when Vini said ancient scriptures had greatest of the knowledge in them. I was not even thinking at that point of time....Yeah,You guessed it right!!Just had finished my Kriya. Now I actually understand what she meant!!

In 1687, Sir Isaac Newton proposed his 3 laws of motion, which actually changed almost everything. It was one of the greatest leaps in Physics. When apple fell on his head (hi hi), Only due to his 3 laws he could zero in on Gravitational Force. From the rocket science that developed to the movement of Satellite which you are depending on to read this all comes from this law.Pin-pointing of a cause for every single Object suddenly starting to move OR getting deviated OR suddenly increase/decrease in Its velocity.(But not applicable for sub-atomic Particles,i.e.,very,very small particles and very,very large particles)

The main reason for my reaction is that, Yoga Vasistha, THE book has been dated between the 5th and 14th Century A.D.( Wikipedia says so) and knowledge coming in such old ages is Highly Remarkable. Me obviously expecting many more laws to come my way in further readings.

And to you, I would say start reading and understanding (As much as possible) Yoga Vasistha..Either Enlightment or Nobel Prize awaits you....That too for Only Rs.250/-!!!Grab your own copy!!Start reading..JAI GURUDEV

FIR-First interview report

(My First interview report OR should I say First-hand interview report)




Here are few thoughts that came to me before the interview:

1) When I heard there is an interview, First Reaction: what the hell?? Why?? Why not call it a chat??


2) No info: As the main info about the interview was not revealed, I did not know what to expect.. Are Raghus and Chinnappas going to come?? Will I have to do tasks?? Are you shooting this interview, and broadcasting in some channel?? Even if I go fully prepared to any Viva in a particular subject, the person asking me the question always seemed to have an upper hand in the proceedings. Without any preparations, what the hell am I going to do??


3) Is it a Formal \ casual interview??: With the kind of efforts being put in by the volunteers, I knew that they could surprise me (In the end, they did).I imagined quite many of them. The worst one-

Was the one in which I was escorted by an assistant into the office of the principal of SDM. There was no one there. The assistant left the room. I occupied my seat and was waiting. Suddenly, the door in the side of the room creaked open (It is an old college.)With the back-ground score of Karthik calling Karthik (The theme song, BTW, Great music), in entered BAWA and some grumpy-looking guy (No, not Dinesh Bhaiyya).He looked at me and gave me a half-smile. After settling down, Grumpy guy asked me my name. After hearing my reply, I think I saw a twinkle in Bawa’s eyes, like the one I had seen Lions’ eyes, when they find a prey. Rest of the interview was fast-forwarded by me, by seeing the horror in my own eyes. What happened in Rest of the interview was basically me getting blasted away by Bawa, Grumpy guy simply stared at me (Even after my calls for help, you know, Isharon Isharon se). It looked as if I had slumped into the chair, mumbling very, very short answers (could be yes/no). After the whole ordeal, I stumbled my way out of the office, (Now the background score was Jag jab soona lage from Om Shanthi Om). From getting snapped to getting lashed, It was my most terrible minutes (Self confidence hitting an all time low).After coming out of SDM, I went to Rajasthani Sweets (Food can get back confidence, something about proteins and vitamins) singing Hum honge kamiyab...

Should I go in my casuals or should I go in complete formals, with a file with my Bio-data and stuff??

4) Interview board?? Who is in the Board??: Obviously when you hear this, you are bound to think this is to professional stuff. The people in the interview board are the people certified to interrogate people (Torturing bhi??). If its going to be strangers, after initial courtesy and name telling (calling names in mind if they are horrible in the end!!), you can actually tell them all your bad points/weakness very openly. If they select me, later on, when they interact with me obviously they will see my good-side and will be very fond of me as I did not hide weakness like a Warrior. If I know the person to whom I tell my weakness, obviously when in future (Or they may go to the past) they see me in a bad situation, Alarm bells will ring in their brains and their brains start analyzing my situation and me.



After being interviewed, I believe I will never be able to get such a awesome interviewer and a cool interview outcome (Lassi thanda tha, and sis payed for it)..
